Fly Fishing Flies

When it comes to fly-fishing, the flies are the most important part.  Not only are they the whole premise of fly-fishing, but also the fly is what attracts the fish to the line.  The fly is a brightly colored item.  The reason why the angler needs to move his rod and cast a lot is to give the fish the effect of a real fish flying above the water surface.

The fish then reacts to the food and they are hooked for your own pleasure or disposal.  It sounds easy, but fly-fishing really is not that easy.  It all begins with a good fly.  You first need a good fly that will attach and stay attached.  You also want flies that are brightly colored and yet, still resemble something that the fish would be attracted to at the same time.

Fly Fishing Flies
Fly-fishing generally uses a type of fly that is artificial or fake.  This type of lure is special because they are usually covered with fur, yarn, feathers, and other types of materials to form a fly like resemblance.  When it comes to dry fly fishing, the fisherman will use a brightly colored, artificial fly and they will cast it and let it float on the water.

This only works though when the fisherman can see the fish.  The colors and feathers or such of the fly will attract the fly to come and get it.  This type of fishing with an artificial fly is not good for those fish that generally do not eat from the surface like trout.  The second type of fly-fishing is nymph fishing.  A nymph lure is to resemble flies that lay eggs on the river or lake.

The lures or flies are made so that they stay below the surface and attract fish that do not come to the surface for eat.  This is a great way to lure the fish especially those like trout.  You should remember that when fishing for trout, using a fly is a great way to catch them since they are naturally fly-eaters and like shallow water.  Trout is one of the best fish to fly-fish for and this is one of the favorites of fisherman everywhere.

When you shop for your lure or flies, they are usually grouped by what type of fish you plan on catching.  The most common type is trout that is why you can find many trout flies on the market.  The salmon flies are usually red or yellow and usually all have some shade of browns.

Flies are made to resemble, as close as possible, to the natural food of the fish.  This will allow them to be more eager to bite because of the colors.  Obviously, but using a fly you are more likely to get more fish than with a worm.  Some fish do not naturally eat worms, but they tend to eat flies.  You need to remember that fly fishing flies are the most important part of the fishing experience, if you have a bad fly that you are not going to catch any fish.

Remember they should be brightly colored and resemble what the real thing would be.  Flies are also the better way to fish if you are not plan on keeping the fish as trophies or for dinner.  They are safer to the fish than a regular hook, many times, you can safely remove the lure from the fish, and they can be let back into the wild.
