Trout fly-fishing is the most common type of fly-fishing.  You can fly fish for trout just about in any stream or lake all over the United States.  However, trout fishing is only for fresh water; you will never find trout in saltwater.  Trout are a great fish to catch because they are good sized, fun to catch, and good eating.  You will found that there are plenty of trout to fly fish for like the rainbow trout, coastal trout, brown trout, and golden trout.  There are plenty more varieties, but these are the most common types of trout that you may catch.

When it comes to trout fly-fishing, you will need to take in consideration the area that you will be fishing before you head out.  If the river or pond seems to be low, Trout won’t bite because they are easily spooked.  It is best to go trout fly fishing in areas that have a good amount of water level.  If the creek is high, then it might not be good either.  The water will become cloudy and disturb the trout.  It is best that you fly fish when the levels are just right and clarity is good.  A fisherman will never want to wear brightly colored clothing when it comes to trout fishing because they are easily scared off.

You do not need to use heavy lines or flies to catch some trout on your fly-fishing trip.  All you need is a line that is possible a 2-weight.  This works great for shallow water, but you may want to use a higher line if you are in deep water. If you talk with other fisherman, they will most likely recommend that you use a fly that is light and will move slowly and freely.

You may want to use more than one fly, but it is usually not necessary. You will want the fly to be colored so that the fish will take notice to the fly.  You will want something like silver or teal. The size of the fly shouldn’t be over a six and it should be reasonable in length.  The size and color of your fly will depend on the clarity of the water.  If you notice that the watercolor is a muddy, use some orange or similar colored flies.

As for you cast, it should simple and short.  You will want to throw some open loops if you have more than on fly on your line.  The basics to trout fishing are to not disturb or trouble the trout by lure them in.  You will want to make slow motions that will be as natural as possible so that you don’t spook your prey.
